TSI Ski Levels

Helping you choose
the right lesson from
the very beginning

Choosing the correct ski level is one of the most important steps when booking your lessons. It helps us recommend the right lesson, match you with skiers of a similar ability and ensure you get the most from your time on the mountain.

The guide below is designed to give you an idea of where you currently are. If you're unsure, don't worry our team will ask a few extra questions before confirming your booking.

Why It Matters

Honest levels equals better lessons

Please be as honest as possible when choosing your ski level. Selecting the correct ability allows us to recommend the most suitable lesson, group you with skiers of a similar standard and ensure everyone progresses at the right pace.

If your skiing has improved or changed since booking, simply let us know before your holiday and we'll update your information, if you are booked on group lessons this can affect if the group is then suitable for your level or not.

Find Your Level

From complete beginner to advanced skier

Remember: Skiing ability isn't based on the colour of the runs you've skied alone. Confidence, control and technique are all equally important when choosing the right level.

Complete Beginner

I've never skied before and have never worn skis.

Level 1 – Getting Started

I've skied once before or many years ago and still consider myself a beginner.

Level 2 – Building Confidence

I've skied on a dry slope, indoor snow centre or in the mountains. I can slide and snowplough on a beginner slope but don't yet feel confident.

Level 3 – Confident Snowplough

I can snowplough turn and stop in control on green and easy blue runs.

Level 4 – Developing Parallel

I can ski blue runs confidently and am beginning to bring my skis parallel through some turns, although I still return to a snowplough when conditions become more challenging.

Level 5 – Parallel Progression

I can ski red runs confidently and ski parallel most of the time, although I may still snowplough on steeper, narrower or icy slopes.

Level 6 – Strong Intermediate

I can ski red runs parallel and in control. I've skied black runs but still find bumps, icy conditions or off-piste terrain challenging.

Level 7 – Advanced Skier

I can confidently ski red and black runs in parallel but would like to improve my performance in moguls and off-piste conditions.

Level 8 – Performance Skier

I'm a confident all-mountain skier looking to refine my technique, improve efficiency and continue progressing.
