Discover Morzine

What makes Morzine so special?

Morzine is one of the Alps most loved ski resorts, combining the charm of a traditional French mountain village with direct access to the vast Portes du Soleil ski area. Whether you’re visiting for a family ski holiday, a weekend break or a week of exploring the mountains,

Morzine offers the perfect balance of fantastic skiing, village life and year round Alpine character.Morzine sits lower in the valley than most high altitude Alpine resorts, which is exactly why it still looks and feels like a real village rather than a purpose built ski station: proper streets, year round residents, and architecture that predates the ski lifts.

Morzine Beginner Ski Area

It's also the biggest and liveliest of the three Portes du Soleil resorts TSI teaches in, more shops, restaurants and nightlife than neighbouring Les Gets, without the car free, purpose built feel of Avoriaz up the valley.

And it doesn't stop when the snow melts: the same slopes that fill with skiers in winter turn into some of the Alps best mountain biking and hiking terrain come summer, which is why so many visitors end up coming back in both seasons.

Local Knowledge

Local tips for Morzine

After many seasons teaching in Morzine, we’ve picked up plenty of local knowledge that helps our clients get more from their ski holiday. Here are a few of our favourite tips to help you make the most of your time on the mountain.

tip 1

Choose the right lift pass

Many first time visitors automatically buy the full Portes du Soleil lift pass. If you’re learning to ski or travelling with younger children, the Morzine–Les Gets area alone often provides more than enough fantastic terrain while helping keep costs down.

tip 2

Head to Avoriaz early

If you’re planning to ski over to Avoriaz, set off in the morning. You’ll enjoy quieter slopes, have more time to explore and won’t feel rushed returning to Morzine later in the day.

tip 3

Plan your mountain lunch

Morzine has some fantastic mountain restaurants, especially around Nyon and the wider Portes du Soleil. During busy weeks, arriving slightly before or after the lunchtime rush can make for a much more relaxed experience.

tip 4

Make the most of the trees

Morzine’s tree lined runs can be a great option when visibility is poor, offering better contrast than higher, more exposed slopes.
