Booking terms
and conditions

These booking terms and conditions explain how bookings are made, confirmed and managed with TSI Snowsports. Please read them carefully before making your reservation.

Last updated: September 2026

Thank you for booking your lessons with The Snow Institute.

The Snow Institute operates through TSI Snowsports Ltd in the United Kingdom and The Snow Institute ski instructors' syndicate in France.

Depending on your booking, your contract will be with either TSI Snowsports Ltd or The Snow Institute in France. The relevant contracting entity will be shown on your invoice and payment confirmation.

These Booking Terms and Conditions apply to bookings made with either entity unless otherwise stated.

Booking and payment

A deposit of 50% of the total booking price is required at the time of booking.

The remaining balance is due six weeks before your arrival date in resort.

For bookings made less than six weeks before your arrival date, full payment is due by the date stated on your invoice.

All lessons must be paid for in full before the start of your first lesson.

Your booking is not confirmed until we have accepted your booking and sent you confirmation by email.

By paying the deposit or full balance, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Booking Terms and Conditions.

Insurance

Skiing and snow sports involve inherent risks. All clients are responsible for ensuring that they have appropriate insurance for the activities they intend to undertake.

We strongly recommend that your insurance provides appropriate cover for:

  • Skiing and snow sports activities
  • Accident and medical expenses
  • Mountain rescue and repatriation
  • Third party liability
  • Cancellation or curtailment due to illness or accident
  • Travel disruption or inability to reach the resort
  • Lift or resort closure
  • Adverse weather conditions
  • Insufficient snow
  • Loss of or damage to personal property
  • Other circumstances outside your or our reasonable control

It is your responsibility to check that your insurance provides the level and type of cover appropriate to your circumstances and the activities you intend to undertake.

TSI Snowsports Ltd, The Snow Institute and the instructor providing your lesson are not responsible for the inherent risks associated with skiing or snow sports.

Nothing in these Booking Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

Events outside our control

No refund will normally be provided for lessons that cannot be used as a result of circumstances outside TSI's or the instructor's reasonable control. These may include:

  • Illness or injury affecting the client
  • Late arrival or failure to attend
  • Travel disruption or inability to reach the resort
  • Adverse weather
  • Insufficient snow
  • Lift or resort closures
  • Mechanical failure affecting lift operations
  • Other events outside our reasonable control

Where appropriate, we will provide reasonable documentation to support an insurance claim.

If TSI or your instructor has to cancel a lesson and we cannot provide a suitable alternative, you will receive a refund for the affected unused lesson or lessons.

Client responsibilities

Clients must ensure that they are in a fit and safe condition to participate in physical activity in a mountain environment and that they have suitable clothing and equipment for the conditions.

You must provide accurate information about all participants at the time of booking, including skiing ability, experience and any relevant medical conditions, disabilities, allergies, injuries or additional needs.

If any relevant information changes between booking and your arrival in resort, you must tell us as soon as reasonably possible.

Clients must follow the reasonable instructions and safety decisions of their instructor, including decisions relating to skiing ability, terrain, weather, snow conditions and the safety of the group.

An instructor may modify or stop a lesson if they reasonably consider that continuing would be unsafe.

Arriving for your lesson

Clients are responsible for arriving at the agreed meeting point on time and ready to ski.

If you are delayed, you must contact your instructor as soon as possible using the contact details provided in your meeting information.

For private lessons, the instructor will wait at the meeting point for a maximum of 15 minutes and will also try to contact you.

For group lessons, the instructor will wait for a maximum of five minutes before beginning the lesson. Where practical, the instructor will complete a nearby run and return past the meeting point. If you are late, please remain at the agreed meeting point unless you have made alternative arrangements directly with the instructor.

After this, if you have not made contact with the instructor, they will not be expected to return to the meeting point to find you.

If you arrive late, the lesson will still finish at the originally scheduled time.

It is your responsibility to contact the instructor if you are late or delayed. If you fail to make contact or arrive too late to join the lesson safely, you may lose the lesson and no refund will be provided.

TSI is not responsible for lesson time lost because of a client's late arrival.

Children

Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that children arrive appropriately dressed and equipped for the weather and mountain conditions.

We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue a child's participation where the instructor reasonably considers that the child is unwell, inadequately dressed or equipped, or where their behaviour presents a safety risk to themselves or others.

No refund will normally be provided where participation has to be discontinued for one of these reasons.

Parents or guardians must remain contactable using the emergency contact details provided during any lesson involving a child.

Ability levels

It is important that accurate information about skiing ability and experience is provided at the time of booking.

If a participant's skiing level or circumstances change between booking and arrival in resort, you must tell us so that we can make any necessary adjustments where possible.

We cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate a participant within a group lesson where their skiing level differs materially from the level booked.

Where incorrect or incomplete information provided by the client means that a participant cannot safely or appropriately take part in the booked lesson, no refund will normally be provided.

Group lessons

Group lessons require a minimum number of participants in order to run for the advertised duration.

For groups with a maximum of four participants, a minimum of two participants is required.

For groups with a maximum of six participants, a minimum of three participants is required.

Where minimum numbers apply, we will make this clear at the time of booking.

If the required minimum number has not been reached, we will contact you and explain the options available. Depending on the circumstances, these may include paying an additional amount to maintain the booked lesson duration, accepting a reduced lesson duration or another suitable alternative agreed with you.

Cancellation by you

If you cancel your booking, the following cancellation charges apply:

  • More than 57 days before your arrival date: 30% of the total booking price
  • From 56 days to 29 days before your arrival date: 50% of the total booking price
  • From 28 days to 15 days before your arrival date: 70% of the total booking price
  • From 14 days before your arrival date: 100% of the total booking price

Any refund due after the applicable cancellation charge has been deducted will be returned using the appropriate payment method.

We strongly recommend taking out suitable travel insurance that includes cancellation cover.

Medical information

You must provide us with relevant information about any medical condition, disability, allergy, injury or additional need that could affect participation in a lesson.

This information enables us and your instructor to assess how best to provide the lesson safely and appropriately.

If relevant information is withheld or inaccurate and this means that we cannot safely or appropriately provide the booked service, we may need to modify or discontinue the lesson.

In the case of group lessons, it may not be possible to move a participant to a different group after arrival in resort. Where we cannot provide the booked lesson because relevant information was not disclosed to us, no refund will normally be provided.

Medical and health information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Emergency medical treatment

In the event of an accident or medical emergency, TSI and the instructor will take reasonable steps to contact the participant's emergency contact, parent or guardian where appropriate.

Where immediate medical attention is reasonably considered necessary, emergency services or appropriate medical assistance may be contacted without waiting for the emergency contact to respond.

The client, or the parent or guardian responsible for a child participant, is responsible for costs associated with medical treatment, rescue, transportation or other emergency assistance that are not covered by applicable insurance.

All clients should therefore have appropriate travel and snow sports insurance.

Photography and video

TSI instructors may occasionally take photographs or video during lessons.

We will only use identifiable photographs or video of clients for promotional purposes, including our website, social media and marketing materials, where we have appropriate permission to do so.

Where consent is required, this will be obtained separately from acceptance of these Booking Terms and Conditions.

You can tell us at any time that you do not wish to be photographed or filmed.

For children, appropriate permission will be obtained from a parent or guardian before identifiable photographs or video are used for promotional purposes.

Marketing communications

Booking a lesson does not automatically require you to receive marketing communications from TSI.

We may send you information about TSI services where you have agreed to receive marketing communications or where we are otherwise permitted to contact you under applicable law.

You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.

Booking confirmations, invoices, payment information, meeting details, lesson reminders and other communications necessary to manage your booking are service communications and are not marketing communications.

Further information about how we use your personal information is available in our Privacy Policy.

Complaints

We want you to be happy with your lessons.

If you experience a problem or are unhappy with any aspect of your lesson, please tell us or your instructor as soon as possible so that we have an opportunity to address the issue while you are in resort.

If the matter cannot be resolved during your stay, please contact TSI as soon as reasonably possible with details of your complaint.

Where your contract is with The Snow Institute in France, applicable French law and any mandatory consumer protections will apply as required by law.
