WHY YOUR SKI LEVEL MATTERS

Choosing the right level
makes a big difference

One of the biggest factors in enjoying your ski lessons is being placed in the correct ability group. Choosing a level that's too advanced can affect your confidence, while selecting one that's too easy may slow your progress.

By identifying your current skiing ability honestly, you'll enjoy lessons that are challenging, rewarding and tailored to your needs.

BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF

How to assess your skiing ability

When thinking about your ski level, don't focus on how long you've been skiing.
Instead, ask yourself:

  • Can I control my speed confidently?
  • Can I link turns? Snowplough or parallel?
  • Do I feel comfortable on blue and red runs?
  • Can I ski confidently in different snow conditions?
  • Am I confident using lifts?

Your answers provide a much better indication of your skiing ability than the number of ski holidays you've been on.

COMMON MISTAKES

Avoid choosing the wrong level

Many skiers accidentally overestimate or underestimate their ability.
Common mistakes include:

  • Choosing a higher level because you've skied for several years.
  • Forgetting that you haven't skied for a long time.
  • Comparing yourself with friends or family.
  • Assuming confidence equals technique.

Remember, there's no advantage in choosing a higher level if it means you'll struggle throughout the lesson.

Your Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

What if I'm between two ski levels?

Contact us before booking and we'll help you choose the most suitable level.

Does skiing every year make me an advanced skier?

Not necessarily. Your skiing technique and confidence are much more important than the number of holidays you've been on.

What happens if I choose the wrong level?

We'll always do our best to help, but choosing the correct level from the start gives you the best experience and helps everyone in the group progress together.

Should children use the same ski levels as adults?

Yes, the same levels apply as a guide. Children's group lessons are organised slightly differently due to age ranges and strenght of child, so if you're unsure, contact us and we'll happily advise.
